Become a Member

To become a Friend of the Tigard Public Library:

• just pick up a Friends brochure at the Library
  13500 SW Hall
  Tigard, OR 97223
• or e-mail us, giving your name and address, and we will mail you a brochure: info@tigardlibraryfriends.org
• or, join right now using our secure online PayPal account (Click on the membership type below)
• new members will receive a branded Friends of the Tigard Library book bag. You will receive a welcome letter with specifics upon membership completion.

Membership categories:

• Individual - $10
• Family - $15
• Senior (over 65) - $5
• Sustaining - $50

Some Thoughts on Volunteerism

The phrase “it’s in giving that you receive” applies to most volunteer activities. But as a Friend of the Tigard Public Library, the amounts that you “give” and “receive” are not proportional. You have the opportunity to improve our neighborhood’s library in ways that inspire, ignite, and prolong the literary needs of every Tigard resident. By “giving” your time, opinions, and services, you “receive”:

• The feeling that you are needed (the Friends pay for programs and materials that are not included in the library budget)
• The satisfaction that you are appreciated (the staff will often say “hi” and express their gratitude for the work that the Friends does for the library)
• The knowledge that you make a difference (a patron might only be able to visit the Art Museum by using a cultural pass, or a passion for reading is ignited by a patron’s involvement in the Adult reading program)
• The empowerment of knowing that your opinions and input are valued (decisions regarding disbursement of proceeds to the library are made at monthly meetings)
• The enjoyment of meeting and working together with others who share your dedication and enthusiasm for Tigard’s library.
